Here is a photo of the custom sword named “Galatine” for the client. The blade is D-2 tool steel, all other sword and scabbard furniture is stainless steel. The seven pointed star ornament on the heart-shaped pommel is laminated O-1 and 308 Stainless. Both handle and scabbard are wrapped in twisted stainless steel wire. The blade is about .170 inch thick at the spine with a slight distal taper toward the point.

 

Galatine was built using a modified Japanese toggle-tang style, with steel toggle and pommel screw.  As with all Maringer Swords, it was signed and numbered on the tang under the handle, to preserve purity of form.
