Galatine
Here is a photo of the custom sword named “Galatine” for the client. The blade is D-2 tool steel, all other sword and scabbard furniture is stainless steel. The seven pointed star ornament on the heart-shaped pommel is laminated O-1 and 308 Stainless. Both handle and scabbard are wrapped in twisted stainless steel wire. The blade is about .170 inch thick at the spine with a slight distal taper toward the point.
Galatine was built using a modified Japanese toggle-tang style, with steel toggle and pommel screw. As with all Maringer Swords, it was signed and numbered on the tang under the handle, to preserve purity of form. The handle may be safely disassembled by the owner for periodic inspection or to view the signature panel. Studio Photography by Jon Verhoeven.
