Here is a photo of a sword-dagger pair made about 1990. The blades are D-2 tool steel, all other sword and scabbard furniture is stainless steel.

Both handles are wrapped in twisted stainless steel wire. The scabbards are covered in black leather with a single spiral strand of twisted stainless wire. The blades are about .225 inch thick.

The weight is about 4.5 and 1.5 pounds respectively. The construction uses the modified Japanese toggle-tang style, with steel toggle and pommel screw. Large brilliant-cut Brazilian amethysts are mounted in 14k gold mounts in the open pommels.

All Maringer Swords are signed and numbered on the tang beneath the handle, to preserve purity of form. Studio photography by Jim Weyer.
