Norse Dual Stave in Iron, Vegvisir and Helm of Awe

$22.00

When one stave isn't enough

This solid iron coin was struck with 80 tons of force between our hand-engraved steel Vegvisir and Helm of Awe dies! After that it's given a durable black oxide coating that won't readily rust and can be regularly handled.

Vegvisir Wayfinder

The Vegvísir, or Norse compass, is an Icelandic magical stave, which, according to the Huld manuscript, protects one from losing their way in bad weather.

Encircling the Vegvísir is the runic transliteration of the Icelandic phrase, “Ég stoppar ekki Þegar Þreyttur, ég stoppar Þegar ég er búinn”, which translates to, “I do not stop when tired, I stop when done.”

The Helm of Awe

Ægishjálmur, or Œgishjalmr` or in English, “The Helm of Awe”, is a Nordic magical Stave which is meant to imbue its carrier with protection, and inspire victory in battle. We like to imagine helping in the day to day challenges of every day life, and how the stave might remind its carrier how strong they truly are at heart.

Algiz, or “Z-Runes” Make up the foundations of the 8 main symbols-- forks emitting from a central point which are on the offensive and protecting the center.

Quality is the word

Extremely pleased with the quality of the material and stamping process. The weight is perfect. Not too heavy but it definitely feels substantial in my hand and pocket. A great reminder that I do not finish when tired, but rather when I am done with what I need to do. Pairs great with my Memento Mori/Vivre coin.

Only coin you’ll need!!

On the one side you’ve got a protective sigil. To empower you. To frighten your enemies. To keep you safe in battle should you ever see it. On the reverse side, a compass to guide you through hardships. To keep you from losing your way and return you home even. And on top of it all the coin is struck in iron giving it even more protective qualities from those wishing you harm.
Now aside from all this, the coin itself is beautifully struck. Each part of both symbols are easily seen. The texture is actually felt. The quality from Shire Post Mint is above repute. You can’t go wrong with buying one or ten of these awesome and fantastic coins!
