Pair of Widow's Mites Handmade Replica Coins - Ancient Judean Lepton Design
He Saw Also a Certain Poor Widow Putting in Two Mites...
Widow’s Mites, also known as Leptons or Pruta, were the smallest known denomination in ancient Jewish currency. These were regular coins from the Maccabees to the time of Herod, but they became famous worldwide with their mention in the New Testament. The word Mite was not what they were called in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus, but the name was included later in some of the earlier English versions of The Bible.
And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had. These tiny coins always come as a pair and feature a yoke on one side and a spoked wheel on the reverse. Because this coin is a reproduction of historical coinage, we have added text between the spokes of the wheel that roughly translates to, "reproduction" in ancient Hebrew.
This Pair of Widow's Mites is struck from solid copper. Each coin measures 1 cm in diameter, and weighs about 1.4 grams. Coin artwork by Tom Maringer.
The product is treated to look as if it has been handled and circulated. This process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science, coloring and patinas will vary. No two are exactly the same! Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. A colorful description is included with history and facts about the coin.

These little coins are so neat. I've been wanting this exact thing for a while now. They met my expectations in every way.
This product is Top Notch. Not just the coins themselves, but the packaging as well. The coins have gotten a lot of attention from my church going friends. I would really like to see more 'ancient coin' replicas, particularly from pre-Roman era to the first few centuries CE. There's your hint guys. Can you do it?
These coins are so well made and so nice to have. They are a great addition to my collection and have a really nice meaning and history to them
Its great. If only my Grandmother hasn't pastaway many years ago she would love it. The craftmanship is wonderful.
Really like the story that goes with the coins.
