Naughty / Krampus

If you’ve been good then you have nothing to fear. If you’ve misbehaved...hopefully you’re good at hiding. It is told that Krampus, the half-man/half-goat counterpart to Santa, punishes misbehaving children by beating them with birch branches. Some disappear, stuffed into Krampus’s sack, and hauled off to his lair. He is shown on the coin baring his terrible fangs.

Nice / Santa

Known for his jovial nature and generosity, this legend is known for bringing gifts to the homes of well-behaved children. He goes by many different names: Sinterklaas, Santa Clause, Kris Kringle, Father Christmas, Papa Noel, and Père Noël. He is said to live at the North Pole where he spends the year making toys with the help of his elves. He's shown on the coin with a fur coat, and crown of holly leaves, and exhaling a frosty breath.

Another instant classic from SPM

2020 was really a great year creatively for Shire Post Mint. So many original and new designs came out in their own ranges (rather than their also brilliant fantasy licensed ones.)
This is a good example of this. A simple concept, with great art expertly engraved. I love this and the iron version too!

Who needs a list to check twice?

Got this as I cosplay a young Nikolai Kringle, a.k.a. Santa Claus before he took up the mantle of Father Christmas. This coin only helps accent this cosplay, because I can use it in real time, If a kid and their parents say they are nice I have small wooden toys to hand out, but if the parents say they are naughty, I leave it to the coin to decide, if it lands on Nice, they still get the toy, but if it lands on naughty, then they will get a chocolate in the shape of coal, and usually a lesson of, “While candy is happiness for now, a toy can give you happiness whenever you need it, I cannot wait to hear when your behavior has changed, and a toy like this can be yours”

This is also great with the adults, as they know who is on both sides, and Nice gets them a jolly laugh, and ask what they would like for christmas, but if it lands on naughty … “I need to reach out to an old friend …”

All in all this is a wonder piece, that is well built, and would be perfect in anyone’s Santa Sack for the holiday season.
