Norse Dual Stave in Iron, Vegvisir and Helm of Awe

When one stave isn't enough

This solid iron coin was struck with 80 tons of force between our hand-engraved steel Vegvisir and Helm of Awe dies! After that it's given a durable black oxide coating that won't readily rust and can be regularly handled.

Vegvisir Wayfinder

The Vegvísir, or Norse compass, is an Icelandic magical stave, which, according to the Huld manuscript, protects one from losing their way in bad weather.

Encircling the Vegvísir is the runic transliteration of the Icelandic phrase, “Ég stoppar ekki Þegar Þreyttur, ég stoppar Þegar ég er búinn”, which translates to, “I do not stop when tired, I stop when done.”

The Helm of Awe

Ægishjálmur, or Œgishjalmr` or in English, “The Helm of Awe”, is a Nordic magical Stave which is meant to imbue its carrier with protection, and inspire victory in battle. We like to imagine helping in the day to day challenges of every day life, and how the stave might remind its carrier how strong they truly are at heart.

Algiz, or “Z-Runes” Make up the foundations of the 8 main symbols-- forks emitting from a central point which are on the offensive and protecting the center.

The Norse Dual Stave is struck from solid iron, measures 3.3 cm in diameter, and weighs about 33 grams. Coin artwork by Woody Maringer.

The product is treated to look as if it has been handled and circulated. This process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science, coloring and patinas will vary. No two are exactly the same! Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. A colorful description is included with history and facts about the coin.

good stuff

This thing has a nice heft and it feels really good in the hand. The blackened smooth finish is nice too. My only very minor critique, you might say in contrast, is that the finish on it leaves the image a little hard to see unless you get the light right- it's fine line work (very nice and precise line work), so the finish darkens the lines too. But it's a great piece and the even the packing is elegant and enchanting.

Awesome

This coin was well made, has a good weight and I love it. The packaging it came in was personalized and phenomenally detailed. I’ve already bought another one for a friend as a gift.

Solid iron coin for Viking enthusiast

Get double the Viking art with this piece. I definitely like how each side has a different texture. I definitely recommend this.
