The Hobbit™ Set #5 - The Shire Four Pennies
THE SHIRE™ Pennies
Four Pennies in pure copper from The Shire. Each denomination of Shire coinage has 4 variations featuring different trees. This four tree group contains all four possible trees: pine, elm, willow, and oak. The most common coin found in the pocket of a fairly well-to-do Hobbit, it features a tree and the words “One Penny of the Shire, Abode of the Hobbits.” On the reverse, the four directions and quarters of The Shire and “Shire Year,” the date, and “Michel Delving,” the de facto capital of The Shire. Coin text is inscribed in Tengwar.
The coins in this set from the world of J. R. R. Tolkien are struck from solid copper, measure 2.1 cm in diameter, and weigh 2.8 grams. Coin artwork by Greg Franck-Weiby.
The set contains coins treated to look as if they have been handled and circulated within their world. This process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science. Coloring and patinas will vary. No two sets are exactly the same! Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. A colorful description is included with history, translations, and facts about the coins.

Calidad, cuidado de los detalles y Presentación excelentes e inmejorables. Me han gustado mucho y quedaran muy bien en mi colección de la Tierra Media.
El unico pero que pongo es que su precio me parece un poco caro, sino compraria más.
WOW! These coins are, by FAR, the coolest Lord of the Rings artifacts that I've ever seen. They're so detailed and well made, and just absolutely perfect. I can't wait to add many more denominations of Shire coins to my collection in the future!
Beautifully struck coin copper coin (95% Cu, 5% Zn) with finely detailed pine image. This coin has maintained its coppery lustre. Worth every cent I spent on it at the time.
Much nicer then normal US pennies. I have a bunch of them and there are all just a little different. Some have a rougher slightly not round shape which really adds to the feel of these being from a different time and place. They look great and you probably won't toss them on the ground like a normal penny.
I was given a Shire coin as a gift and it is one of my favorite Tolkien fandom accessories I have. I was privileged to see all four trees as three friends also were given these coins as gifts. The quality is lovely. You can tell this business cares about the product. The images were centered and presented in the neatest packaging to make it feel so special.
