Axe of Thrain Copper Coin

Sale price$22.00

King Under the Mountain

This octagonal copper coin was made during the 3rd age of Middle-earth™ in the Mines of Erebor™ under the rule of Thráin II, father to Thorin Oakenshield. Thráin ruled as King of Durin's Folk during their exile from The Lonely Mountain.

The Arkenstone™ is shown on an anvil. The Arkenstone, also known as "The Heart of the Mountain", was a great treasure found deep inside The Lonely Mountain that was worked into a faceted jewel. Inscribed in Dwarvish around the stone are the words THRAIN TURGUL Y EREBOR, “Thráin, King Under The Lonely Mountain.” On the reverse is a mighty axe and the phrase BARUK KHAZÂD, “Axes of the Dwarves.”

Got the heft; got the octagonal edge

The Axe of Thrain coin is brilliant!
Enough heft to match Brother Night Watch, outweighs King Conan, smaller than King Feyda Calanthis, but thicker...
So the octagonal edge and smooth curve, excellent patination/ wear to highlight the engraving make it excellent :)
But that's just SPMs benchmark... lol
Have fun collecting and comparing these coins of creative verisimilitude!

I love the coin comparison!

This coin feels great to hold!

I love the weight and the shape of this coin particularly. Each side is beautiful. Shire Post Mint has made some of my favorite coins in my collection. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the folks who work there at their booth at comic con. Lovely craftsmanship & people!

Before even seeing the faces of this beautiful coin you can tell by its shape: this piece was made my Dwarves. The designs on each face are awesome - love the detail on the axe, especially. Great color, weight, and overall feel, as well.
