Now immortalized in bronze beneath the Statue of Liberty, this poem invites us to think about the immigrant experience, and the part that America may choose to play in welcoming anyone seeking hope beneath the Mother of Exile’s shining torch.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn the obverse of our coin, the goddess Justitia stands tall and strong - wielding her scales and sword. The reverse depicts Lady Liberty's torch held high, its weight supported by every person who forms the beautifully diverse landscape of America’s redwood forests, Gulf Stream waters, and diamond deserts.
