Aegon II Targaryen Golden Dragon Coin

Sale price$21.06

"Then the storm broke, and the dragons danced.” - George R.R. Martin, Fire & Blood

  • One solid brass coin, 21g
  • 1.27" (3.2 cm) coin
  • Broadstruck
  • Comes wrapped in a folded paper envelope sealed with a wax seal

A Golden Dragon minted after Aegon II Targaryen’s secret coronation. Aegon II, at first, refused to be a part of his mother’s plans to crown him, insisting Rhaenyra was heir. He was eventually convinced by Ser Criston Cole, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. The obverse depicts the portrait of young King Aegon II who strongly resembled his father, Viserys I Targaryen, in appearance. He had a sullen look to his eyes and a pouty mouth with a wispy mustache instead of a beard. He wore the iron-and-ruby crown of Aegon I Targaryen.

The reverse depicts the sigils of Aegon II’s mother and sire with House Targaryen and Hightower; a dragon perching on a tower. Like many Targaryens before him, Aegon II was a dragonrider. His mount was Sunfyre, a dragon with brilliant golden scales. The three-headed Targaryen dragon in the arms of Aegon was made golden to honor Sunfyre.

It came on time, the details are incredible, and it even came with a wax sealed letter thanking me for my “support to their side”.
All in all a great addition to my collection😁
