There is a long history of Memento Mori reminders, including coins. We have added our own spin on the concept and included a new reverse side, “Memento Vivere” which translates to “remember that you have to live.” We believe there is a beautiful balance between accepting mortality and embracing life.
Memento mori (Latin: "Remember that you have to die.") is the medieval Latin Christian theory and practice of reflection on mortality. Especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits.
Memento vivere (Latin: "Remember you have to live.") Know that your time is short in the grand scheme of things. So have fun while you are here.
- 16 grams (1/2 troy ounce) of bullion grade pure silver
- 1 inch (2.5 cm) diameter
- Chain or keyring of your choice, or charm-only
- Stamped on the bottom edge with (999 FS) meaning (99.9% Fine Silver)

Our Process
Shire Post Mint coins are struck one at a time in West Fork, Arkansas, USA using solid metals, hand-engraved designs, antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. For antiqued coins, the coloring/patina process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science so coins will vary slightly. Our unique packaging includes a description of each coin and translations if applicable.

Of all the drop press coin necklaces I have from Ren Faires, this one made on the Shire Post press means the most. I'm never taking it off! Shire Post is ever coming up with new and creative art. I've loved them since the early days when I was a resident of Hobbiton.

The coin is solid, heavy fine silver. The design is beautiful, just as in the pictures. After getting a knockoff on another website I did some research and found the real memento mori coin… Only on Shire Post Mint! Thank you guys :)
