Vegvisir Wayfinder Coin - Silver
The Vegvísir Guides the Way Through the Storm
Solid .999 Fine Silver, 1 Troy oz
3.24 cm diameter
"...if this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known."
The Vegvísir, or Norse compass translating to "wayseer", is an Icelandic magical stave, which, according to the Huld manuscript, protects one from losing their way in bad weather. The vikings used the word "hafvilla" or "bewildered" which means to have no sense of direction or be lost at sea. We created this coin to help guide us through modern moments of hafvilla.
This wayfinder will help guide the holder through the rough journey of life. Use it to find the correct path to travel.
Encircling the Vegvísir is the runic transliteration of the Icelandic phrase, "Ég stoppar ekki Þegar Þreyttur, ég stoppar Þegar ég er búinn", which translates to, "I do not stop when tired, I stop when done."
The solid bronze or silver coin is struck with an incuse design, in which the letters are lowered rather than raised. This way the lettering will stay dark even if the coin is carried daily.

The product is treated to look as if it has been handled and circulated. This process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science, coloring and patinas will vary. No two are exactly the same! Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. A colorful description is included with history and facts about the coin.

My vegvisir coin has ridden in my pocket ever since it was received. It’s a nice hefty reminder that I can make it home through any storm (physical or spiritual). To give it a little extra power-up, I left it outside on a paving stone during the Nov. 19, 2021 full-moon lunar eclipse. I thought it was fitting for a coin made of pure silver.
I bought three of these coins, one for each of my sons. We are all extremely happy with the quality of the coins. I also love the packaging that hold the coin explaining what the coin means.
The coin is excellent quality. The design will last a long time even with being worn daily. Even the leather in the necklace is not showing any signs of wear.
Beautifully crafted coin. Detail is lovely.
