True coinage from a hallowed place

To put it simply, Shire Post Mint coins are "true" coins: it's not that they are "believable as" but that they ARE 6d, a shilling, a two-shilling piece from the Shire. As I said in a previous review (the Gondor 1d), silver takes the die strike like no other metal; and this is proven abundantly in the three silver specimens in this Deluxe Set. (No lack of any merit against the Tuppence is implied!)

I've been an amateur numismatist all my life. I especially enjoy historical research into the lore of holed coins. My personal favorite, until I had the Shire 6d holed for wearing, was a Victoria Jubilee Head shilling (1887, .925 silver). It had genealogical associations as well as being a superb coin strike.

The Shire sixpence is equally elegant in design and superb in strike -- as are SPM "Hobbit" and "LOTR" coins consistently. With this holed sixpence I like to think that my roots are even deeper in the Shire now, a place of peace and abundance. I feel privileged to display Shire Post Mint artwork so personally.

Each order comes packed with a handwritten envelope sealed with wax straight from Shire Post Mint! Unless changed, we will hand write the name of the person listed in the Shipping Address.

Shire Post Mint coins are struck one at a time in West Fork, Arkansas, USA using solid metals, hand-engraved designs, antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. For antiqued coins, the coloring/patina process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science so coins will vary slightly.
