Memento Mori Iron Coin - Memento Vivere Reminder Token

$28.00

Remember...

There is a long history of Memento Mori reminders, including coins. We have added our own spin on the concept and included a new reverse side, “Memento Vivere” which translates to “remember that you have to live.” We believe there is a beautiful balance between accepting mortality and embracing life.

Memento mori (Latin: "Remember that you have to die.") is the medieval Latin Christian theory and practice of reflection on mortality. Especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits.

Memento vivere (Latin: "Remember you have to live.") Know that your time is short in the grand scheme of things. So have fun while you are here.

A Coin To Remember Them By

A coin to remember them by, a coin on the altar, a coin of such craftsmanship, a coin that will never falter.

Unique little reminder to value each day

Beautiful little coin. I carry it with me most days and enjoy having it as a reminder, as well as something to fiddle with when bored or anxious about something.

The perfect gift

I have several Memento Mori coins in various metals. I carry a silver one with me every day, and I gift copper and bronze coins to folks who I think will benefit from them. I didn’t have an iron version and wanted to take a look…it’s just as beautiful as the other metals, and, like them, the material adds to the overall appeal. I love that the coins are all the same design but look so different, depending on the metal. The iron shows a lot of detail, and the black coating is cool, too!

I love seeing how different the patinas are on each! Thanks so much for your support!

Shire Post Mint coins are struck one at a time in West Fork, Arkansas, USA using solid metals, hand-engraved designs, antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. For antiqued coins, the coloring/patina process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science so coins will vary slightly. Our unique packaging includes a description of each coin and translations if applicable.
