The Hobbit™ Set #7 - The Shire Four Silver Sixpences
THE SHIRE™ Silver Sixpences
Four Sixpences from The Shire struck in 1/14 troy ounce of .90 pure silver. Each denomination of Shire coinage has 4 variations featuring different trees. This four tree group contains all four possible trees: pine, elm, willow, and oak. Coin text is inscribed in Tengwar.
The coins in this set from the world of J. R. R. Tolkien are struck from solid .900 silver, measure 2 cm in diameter, and weigh 2.4 grams, or 1/14 of a troy ounce. Coin artwork by Greg Franck-Weiby.
The set contains coins treated to look as if they have been handled and circulated within their world. This process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science. Coloring and patinas will vary. No two sets are exactly the same! Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. A colorful description is included with history, translations, and facts about the coins.
