Memento Mori Iron Coin - Memento Vivere Reminder Token
There is a long history of Memento Mori reminders, including coins. We have added our own spin on the concept and included a new reverse side, “Memento Vivere” which translates to “remember that you have to live.” We believe there is a beautiful balance between accepting mortality and embracing life.
Memento mori (Latin: "Remember that you have to die.") is the medieval Latin Christian theory and practice of reflection on mortality. Especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits.
Memento vivere (Latin: "Remember you have to live.") Know that your time is short in the grand scheme of things. So have fun while you are here.

The product is treated to look as if it has been handled and circulated. This process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science, coloring and patinas will vary. No two are exactly the same! Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques.

Beautiful little coin. I carry it with me most days and enjoy having it as a reminder, as well as something to fiddle with when bored or anxious about something.
This packaging made for an awesome gift and was packing with tons of fun details, like a pirate coin was sent from a far and distant land. The item itself looked awesome and had a little bit of heft to it, making it feel nice to turn in the hand. My friend loved the gift.
I gave this to my 16 year old son and (after I explained what it meant) he slowly nodded his head while looking at it and said "..That's kind of cool.."which is high praise indeed!
It's beautiful and well crafted---I love everything I get from the artisans at the Shire Post Mint.
It was made very well. I love the attention to detail. From opening the package to wax seal to the information besides the coin; I LOVE IT. The message has a simple but important meaning which is something to be reminded about, and as a coin collector, having it feels special.
I like to keep a coin in my pocket to fidget with, I have quite the collection. This is a beautiful piece, great design. Feels heavy and its got a very different shape to other coins.
