Raven Penny of New DALE™
Raven Chief Roäc™ Brings News of Smaug™
Minted in year 4 of the Fourth Age, 84 years after the death of the dragon Smaug in the city of New Dale. It commemorates the intelligent raven chief Roäc, son of Carc™, who spoke to Thorin Oakenshield and told him of Smaug's death. On the reverse is a scene of New Dale below the Lonely Mountain. Bard the Bowman™ rebuilt Dale after it was destroyed by Smaug's attack.
This Raven Penny of New DALE™ from the world of J. R. R. Tolkien is struck from solid copper, measures 2 cm in diameter, and weighs about 3.5 grams. Coin artwork by Tom Maringer.
The product is treated to look as if it has been handled and circulated. This process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science, coloring and patinas will vary. No two are exactly the same! Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. A colorful description is included with history, translations, and facts about the coins.
Note—Each order comes packed with a handwritten envelope straight from Shire Post Mint. We will make this out to whomever is on the SHIPPING ADDRESS. If you are giving this as a gift and would like a different name on the envelope, please include the recipient's name in the Special Instructions field as you complete your order.
These coins seem so real!
This is another finely-crafted copper coin for Lord of the Rings and Hobbit fans.
This coin is quite small (as you can see it in the 3rd picture) but really good and with a lot of details. Great part of larger collection.
Lovely detailing and patina. I love the rounded edge and thick raised texture the mountain gives. It has the textural appeal of a worry-coin and a satisfying clink when you have at least 3 in your hand.
