Aries, the first sign in the Zodiac, is named for the ram constellation. Its representation is associated with Chrysomallos, child of the god Poseidon and the nymph Theophane, the flying ram with a golden fleece from Greek mythology. In Ancient Egyptian astronomy, this constellation was associated with Amun-Ra, god of both war and fertility.

People born from March 21st-April 19th are considered to have Aries as their Sun sign - the part of an astrological chart that determines ego, identity, the character one plays in life. The Moon sign relates to the subconscious, intuition, inner world, and emotional self.

The sign of Aries is ruled by the planet Mars and the element of fire. Those with this Sun sign are often thought of as especially passionate, dynamic and daring individuals. Those with an Aries Moon are often thought of as independent and bold individuals, skilled at being fully present and living in the moment.
